How to setup TLS encryption for Linux File Monitoring?

Last Updated: Jan 25, 2016 02:38PM PST

If you would like to enable TLS encryption for Linux Log File Monitoring, you need to make below changes to 21-filemonitoring-loggly.conf that you have created by following instructions under this doc.

1. Change this line:

if $programname == 'APPNAME1' then @@logs-01.loggly.com:514;LogglyFormatFile

to

if $programname == 'APPNAME1' then @@logs-01.loggly.com:6514;LogglyFormatFile

2. Paste the TLS configuration (that was also mentioned in how to set up Rsyslog TLS Configuration):

#RsyslogGnuTLS
$DefaultNetstreamDriverCAFile /etc/rsyslog.d/keys/ca.d/loggly_full.crt
$ActionSendStreamDriver gtls$ActionSendStreamDriverMode 1
$ActionSendStreamDriverAuthMode x509/name
$ActionSendStreamDriverPermittedPeer *.loggly.com
then don't forget to restart the rsyslog service.
